Supply chain and logistics company recognised for innovation, safety and gender diversity
LINX Cargo Care Group’s commitment to innovation, safety and diversity has been recognised at the recent 24th Annual Australian DCN Shipping & Maritime Industry Awards held in Melbourne.
LINX Cargo Care Group was announced as the winner of the Safety Award.
The company was Highly Commended in the:
- Supply Chain Innovation & Technology Award
- Gender Diversity Award
In addition, LINX Cargo Care Group was a finalist in two other categories:
- The Excellence in Bulk Logistics or Heavy Lift Award
- Environmental Award
The Australian DCN Shipping & Maritime Safety Award, which LINX CCG won, is awarded for initiatives or implementation of operating systems or company policies which contribute to an improved safety environment in the movement of freight.
The award is also open to entries demonstrating implementation of innovative training solutions which improve OH&S practices.
LINX CCG won the Safety Award for its virtual reality safety training and assessment program.
It is designed to simulate hazardous situations that are likely to arise in ports and transport workplaces. The virtual reality experience shows managers how to recognise dangerous situations as they develop and how to avoid them to stay safe.
Commenting on the win, Anthony Jones, group CEO, LINX Cargo Care Group said: “safety is the most important thing we do within our industry.
Our employees turn up to work and expect to go home safely every day to their families. When we sat back to look at how to make a difference in our safety outcomes, we looked to technology.
Leveraging our diverse thinking across our organisation, we developed an innovative and transformative approach to safety training through our virtual reality initiative, which is something we are incredibly proud of,” Mr Jones said.
Sheridan Jones, general manager corporate affairs LINX CCG presented the Women in Shipping & Maritime Logistics award alongside Victorian Minister for Ports and Freight and Minister for Public Transport Melissa Horne. The award was won by Dr Rochelle Macdonald who is the CEO of the Mid West Ports Authority and a non-executive director of Ports Australia.
The Supply Chain Innovation & Technology Award, in which LINX CCG was Highly Commended, is an award for excellence or innovation in the supply chain. This includes advances in e-commerce or digital solutions to improve supply chain processes, interfaces with regulatory authorities or initiatives in cyber security.
The award is also open to technology advances in the movement of freight or commodities at ports or logistics hubs.
LINX CCGs entry in this award was also built around its VR (virtual reality) technology and recognised LINX CCG’s continued innovation in driving the safety of its employees and customers.
The Gender Diversity Award, in which LINX CCG was Highly Commended, seeks to determine, recognise and reward companies in the shipping & maritime logistics industries that embrace fairness, equality and inclusion by actively encouraging gender diversity. The company believes that placing in the award recognises that LINX CCG has an “agile and nimble approach to gender diversity in an ever changing market”.
Meanwhile, LINX Cargo Care Group was the runner up in the 3rd TT Club Innovation in Safety Award, one of the 20/20 Cargo Vision awards which were presented in Malta at the International Cargo Handling Co-Ordination Association’s (ICHCA) recent international conference.
The chair of ICHCA Australia, John Warda accepted the award on behalf of LINX Cargo Care Group.
The award is designed to highlight the importance of safety at a time of increased operational demands on cargo handling infrastructure and operations worldwide.
It also champions and celebrates the many companies and individuals around the world who are 100 per cent dedicated to ‘making it safe’ every day. Equally, it acknowledges and fosters innovation to improve safety in cargo operations and logistics.
